Good memories are the best

First paragraph
Four hours later, everyone was standing in a giant circle around the flagpole, just like the first day of camp, but this time, it was called the farewell ring. All the campers were there, except Charlie Joe. He was in Dr. Mals office, looking out the window, waiting for his parents to pick him up. He was watching how the kids held hands and sang “ learning to love, and loving to learn” for the last time.

Second paragraph

“I looked around one last time. I took it all in: the basketball court, where we beat camp Jockstrap; the table of contents, where I worked on my newspaper articles; the dining hall, where I took a stand against extra workshop, and the lake, where Katie talked Dr. Mal into a compromise”. (221) This makes me remember when I began to see all the places in my camp. It was so sad that is was difficult not to cry. The part that I remember the most was the soccer field. The field was where I felt good and I could play with many kids and teach them some skills. Another thing that I remember where the cabins because of the decorations that they had and there were really comfortable. I think going to the camp that summer is something I will never forget.

I like this book because it´s a little bit funny and is interesting. Is a good book for 8 graders or 9 graders, they will enjoy the book. I recommend this book because this book makes you enter into the camp and feel like you read every night. Also, this book can transmit a message to you. And the message of the book is that if don’t want to do something you need to try it first because you will probably like it.

Saying goodbye is not easy

First paragraph

A few minutes later, it was time to say goodbye. And Charlie Joe starts with Jack, who introduced Charlie to his grandmother, whom he called Nana. Charlie says to the grandmother of Jack that she makes the best chocolate chip cookies in the entire world. Charlie looked around one last time. Charlie took it all in: the basketball court, the table of contents, etc. Finally, Charlie Joe writes a final card and it was sent to himself it was something I didn’t understand until now.
Second paragraph

“A few minutes later, it was time to say goodbye”. (216)   This quote reminds me when I start to say goodbye to my friends when the school is over. Saying goodbye is always difficult for some persons. When I say goodbye to my friends I felt a little bit sad because I don’t know if I could see them on vacations. That is because we all visit other countries or have time with family so it is difficult for us to see. The same happens in camps and it is even worse because not all the same kids go to the same camp each year. So it is possible that if you meet a person in a camp you will never see her or him again.

I think that the other books that have this author are really awesome. Also that the camp is  really good place to make new friends like Charlie and  Jake. I am also thinking that the camps  help you to learn something and also makes you to do a little bit of sports that you don’t make in school days. In camps you can laugh every time with your friends  and the persons that are taking care of you. Finally, I recommend this book to all my friends.

Problems? I know how to do that

First paragraph
In Friday Monday morning before breakfast, Dr. Mal wake up and tell a news in the microphone, he said the schedule of that day.  The weather was perfect to do campfire that night. Zoe writes a card for Charlie Joe because he misses him a lot. Zoe was one of Charlies best friend and she didn’t go to the camp that year. The problem was that Charlie was falling in love with Zoe and Katie the friend of the camp was mad with him. Katie was falling in love for Charlie so that cause a lot of trouble between both. Finally, the problem was over and Katie and Charlie get a better relationship. The next morning Charlie meets Lauren another girl for the camp and began to talk. It seems that Katie was still in love because he get jealous of this.

Second paragraph

“ Okay, so now you know what I mean when I say this has been quick summer,”. (213)  This quote reminds me when I went to the beach with the friends of my parents. They had two children and both were girls. Their names were Sara and Domenica. Sara was really pretty and I like him a lot, but Domenica think that I was pretty too. The good thing about this is that we were too young to be in love or something like that, so we only play a lot that summer. This quote makes me remember that at my age, I don’t need to be worried about girls because when I grow up that will happen someday. Charlie is not prepared for a having a relationship so he need to think of other things like to live his life as a kid.

Third paragraph
Any additional comments that I would like to share are that the others ten chapters that I read were very interesting. Because it talks about a lot of things that I also like to do. Like when he shouts freedom is priceless  in the second floor of a cabin. Also, I talk about the three things that he can do in the final days of the camp. I talk about the end of camp tradition. Many things that Charlie did in the camp like play sports and read were things I also did so I find connections.

Ironic or not?

First paragraph

Charlie Joe discovers that he is the best athlete of the camp, this makes him very proud. After all, he found something in which he is good. On the same day, Charlie Joe and his friends go outside the cabin to eat chocolate and chip cookies.  Then they go to the Wockajocka a celebration where the whole camp went to the dining hall to have an ice cream party. At the week two Charlie Joe starts to admit that he feels comfortable at camp Rituhbukkee and that it is the funniest place he was going after a long time. Another thing he likes was the table of contents where they could buy soda, candies, and other snacks.

Second paragraph

“It took about five minutes to realize I was the best athlete in the whole place”. This quote reminds me of a day when I went to a camp in Ibarra and I though it was going to be boring. Luckily we start to do sports and I began to like the camp. I need to admit that I am really good in any sport and that my favorite is soccer. I can relate to Charlie because he is a good athlete like me. With my effort in soccer I demonstrate that I was one of the best players of my grade because I was chosen to be the captain of the team. From that day I realize that soccer was the sport I most like and that if a camp is boring soccer would help.

Paragraph 3:

I think that after reading all the three books this was my favorite. One of the things that I like from this author is the irony that he uses. For example, in the first book the main character does not like to read. It’s ironic that the main character does not like to read and that Tommy creates a main character like that. The style of Tommy Greenwald is funny and smart. Also, I like that we can relate some things with the main character like when you do not like to do homework or when you are a reluctant student at times. On the other hand, I think that it can give a lesson to students. The lesson is to be responsible in order to have vacations and be able to be with your friends and family. For doing that kids need to put effort and concentrate in school. I want to add that it has great graphics and it is interesting because it keeps the reader turning pages.

In the next video you will uderstand why I say it is ironic.

Having fun in the camp

This book is about a kid named Charlie Joe Jackson the main character that is going to enter the camp Rituhbukkee. The camp Ritubukkee is a camp for reading and writing so the only ones that enter are the ones that like to do these activities. The problem was that Charlie hated to write and even more to read. The good thing was that the camp was like any other. It had a swimming pool, a basketball court, a tennis court, and baseball and soccer fields. The kids lived in cool log cabins in the woods that had very wide and big windows. All the cabins were named after famous authors, and the cabin of Charlie Joe was named after Roald Dahl cabin.

Second paragraph

“All the cabins were named after famous authors, btw”. This quote reminds me that one day I go camping with my friends of boy scouts. We play a lot of games like capture the flag, soccer, and hide and seek. Then we went to eat meat with rice and french fries. What of the things that I remember the most was when we went to the cabins to tell terror stories. That was the worst part of all because I couldn’t sleep after. Finally, this quote reminds me that all the cabins of the camp that I go where named with the names of old teachers of the Boy Scouts exactly as the cam of Charlie.

The best cabin of all

Third paragraph

In this paragraph I want to ask the author where he gets all his ideas from. I want to know if the main character is like him when he was a kid or that all the stories are invented. I hope that someday this question could be answered and that Tommy visits my blog. In my opinion, I think that the title of the book is interesting because it attracts the reader to buy the book. It sounds mysterious and funny to know there is a guide to summer vacations. I think that this is the reason many kids buy the book because the title is really powerful.
